SteamIQ Network Infrastructure

Industrial-Grade Connectivity

No IT headaches. No network dependencies. SteamIQ uses LoRaWAN—a long-range, low-power wireless protocol built specifically for industrial IoT. Your monitoring network stays completely separate from facility IT infrastructure.

Cloud Platform

Access anywhere, any device

SteamIQ monitors communicate wirelessly via LoRaWAN to gateways installed throughout your facility. Gateways connect to the cloud via cellular (most common) or Ethernet—completely independent of your facility's IT network. Data flows securely to the SteamIQ platform for real-time analysis.

Why LoRaWAN?

Built for Industrial Reality

LoRaWAN signals pass through concrete floors, steel walls, and dense industrial infrastructure. Proven in oilfields, refineries, pharmaceutical plants, and paper mills worldwide.

Zero IT Burden

Your facility's IT team isn't involved. No network credentials, no firewall rules, no security reviews, no VLANs to configure. Monitoring is completely independent.

Cellular or Ethernet

Gateways connect via cellular (most common) or Ethernet. Cellular keeps monitoring completely isolated from facility networks. Choose what works for your site.

Exceptional Range

SteamIQ monitors have the longest wireless range of any steam trap monitor available. Cover entire facilities—including remote outdoor areas—with minimal infrastructure.

300 feet of flexibility: Our PoE injector supports up to 300 feet of CAT5 cable between power source and gateway—giving you flexibility to place gateways where coverage is optimal, not just where power is available.

Enterprise-Grade Security

SteamIQ is deployed at pharmaceutical giants, chemical facilities, and critical infrastructure. Security isn't optional—it's foundational.

End-to-End Encryption

AES-128 encryption from sensor to cloud. Data is encrypted at the device level and remains encrypted through transmission to the LoRa Network Server.

Secure Cloud Transmission

Data forwarded from LNS to SteamIQ cloud via HTTPS (TLS). Encryption in transit and at rest.

No Facility Network Exposure

Monitoring operates on a completely separate network. No connection to facility WiFi, no exposure of internal systems.

Plays Well With Others

Already have LoRaWAN infrastructure? SteamIQ integrates seamlessly.

Existing LoRaWAN Networks

We provide standard KEYS files (DevEUI, AppEUI, AppKey) for onboarding to your existing LoRa network server. Uplink data forwards to our cloud via HTTPS webhook integration.

Common Questions

Range depends on site conditions, but SteamIQ monitors are proven to penetrate multiple concrete floors and dense industrial infrastructure. They've been deployed in harsh environments from Texas oilfields to Alberta oil sands. If you need more coverage, simply add gateways—LoRaWAN scales easily.

Elevation improves coverage. We recommend placing gateways as high as possible—on roofs, pipe racks, or elevated platforms. Our PoE injector supports up to 300ft of CAT5 cable, giving you flexibility even where AC power isn't available. We've even deployed solar-powered gateways in remote locations.

Gateways use cellular or Ethernet backhaul. Most customers prefer cellular—it keeps monitoring completely separate from facility IT. Install gateways where cellular signal is reliable.

Yes. We provide standard KEYS files for onboarding to your network server. We integrate with Actility, Senet, Everynet, Loriot, TTN, Kore, and others.
